Mandatory Marking of Shoes Postponed to July
The effective date of mandatory marking requirements for shoes has been postponed until the 1st of July, 2020 (initially, the date had been set to the 1st of March). The corresponding decree signed by the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin has been published on the official website of the government.
Based on the proposals made by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the production and import of shoes without markings are now allowed until the 1st of July. The shoes imported after this date but acquired before it, will be allowed to be marked until the 1st of August. The products remaining unsold after this date, but produced or purchased before the 1st of July, must be marked before the 1st of September.
The Press Centre of the Ministry of Industry and Trade notes that in order to comfortably prepare their businesses to the mandatory marking of shoes, companies will need to integrate their accounting systems with the track & trace system. In addition, some users will also need to update their software in order to be able to transfer information on the movement of products to the track & trace system. The Advanced Technologies Centre reports that the Chestny Znak system is fully prepared for companies marking their shoes and customers actively checking the authenticity of their codes.
Product marking constitutes applying special tags for scanning that are necessary for tracking goods and combating counterfeit products. Earlier, it has also been reported that companies will be allowed to use international identifier codes in the Russian track & trace system.
