Agricultural exports to China maintain positive trend
From January to May of this year, China purchased USD 1.45 billion worth of Russian agricultural products, TASS reports citing a declaration by Gao Feng, the official representative of the Chinese Ministry of Commerce. This represents an increase of 14.2 percent over the same period last year.
As noted, last year the total trade volume in agricultural products between China and Russia exceeded the previous historical record of USD 5.1 billion, an annual increase of 28.2 percent. At the same time, imports of agricultural products from Russia to China totaled USD 3.21 billion, an increase of 51.3 percent.
According to the Chinese official, his country has already become a key export destination for Russian agricultural products. China is ready to take further steps with the Russian Federation to steadily increase the influx of agricultural products into its market, simplifying bilateral trade and expanding the mix of purchased goods.
In particular, China has recently been actively purchasing soybeans from Far East producers and is ready to increase imports from the European regions of Russia. Last year, China imported 817,000 tons of soybeans from our country, an annual increase of 64.7 percent.
