Import of food is still higher than export
From January of the current year and until the beginning of December, export of Russian agricultural products amounted to USD 22.4, reports the Agriculture Analysis Centre, quoting FCS data. The value of food import is still higher, reaching USD 26.34 bln.
The main import item are citruses, of which 1.4 mln tonnes were supplied, for an amount of USD 1.1 bln. Our country also imported almost 1.4 mln tonnes of bananas, for an amount exceeding USD 1 bln; almost 206,000 tonnes of cheese and cottage cheese, for USD 847.4; 590,600 tonnes of wine and grape must, for USD 1.04 bln; more than 244,000 tonnes of strong alcoholic beverages, for USD 942.6 mln .
The largest volumes of food are imported from Belarus (USD 3,1 mln), China (USD 1.6 bln), Brazil (1.4), Germany (1.2) and Ecuador (1,2). We also note that previously it was stated that Russia remains the global leader in the import of apples. Morever, domestic food products are already being purchased by more than 50 countries in the world, and new markets are opening every year.
