Supply of dairy products and coffee to Russia is steadily growing
According to the materials of the Federal Customs Service, the results of the ten-month period this year show that the imports of milk and condensed cream to the Russian Federation has grown by 16.5 percent compared to the same period last year, amounting to almost 152 thousand tonnes. An especially significant increase can be seen in the imports of butter, which surged more than 33 percent, amounting to 94.7 thousand tonnes, as well as cheese and cottage cheese, with their 11 percent rise to 222 thousand tonnes.
From January to October, the volume of coffee imports to our country increased by 11.6 percent to 183.2 thousand tonnes (while the import of tea, on the contrary, saw a decrease by 13.5 percent to 122.5 thousand tonnes). During the course of the aforementioned period, the supply of raw sugar to the Russian Federation rose by 16.7 percent, reaching 5.6 thousand tonnes, but the volume of white sugar imports fell by almost five percent to 223 thousand tonnes.
In ten months, the Russian Federation has imported 15.6 percent less apples than the last year (788.5 thousand tonnes), the banana imports have declined as well: by 4.8 percent to 1.2 million tonnes. Meanwhile, the supply of citrus fruits has grown by 7 percent, amounting to 1.14 million tonnes. It has previously been reported that the food import in Russia is still higher than its export.
